Recontouring
Recontouring, sometimes called tooth reshaping or tooth sculpting, is a conservative treatment used to make a crowded, chipped, or cracked smile more beautiful. Recontouring can also be used to remove pits or grooves in tooth enamel, restoring an overall smooth and youthful appearance. To be a good candidate for tooth recontouring, you must have strong, healthy teeth.
First, Dr. Taylor will mark your teeth with a pencil. These marks will help guide him during the procedure. Using a sanding drill, tiny amounts of the enamel will gradually be removed and imperfections will disappear. Dr. Taylor will then shape the sides of your teeth with an abrasive strip. Finally, your newly sculpted smile will be polished and smoothed. Recontouring usually takes from one to three visits and can be combined with veneers and cosmetic bonding to give you the best possible result.
